Moscow summer is all about spending every minute of it outside. Life in the summer happens on the terraces, patios and backyards. Here are 5 spots for every day of the week, because the weekends are for dacha.

Na Svezhem Vozduhe

Na Svezhem Vozduhe (in the open air) is one of the most elevated terraces in Europe — 354 meters above Moscow traffic. A modern garden with a stunning view and an excellent grill selection, apart from the grills try seabass in fiesta sauce (≈$23) and the octopus (≈$21).

Enthusiast Motocafe

This spot is a combination of a vinyl store, moto repair shop and a sandwich bar. Beer fans must definitely put some effort into finding this patio in the maze of Stoleshnikov pereulok’s courtyards, you won’t be disappointed. The menu is mostly sandwiches (pita with cream cheese and salmon ≈$5) and arguably the best banana bread in the city.

Veranda 32.05

The most famous of Moscow’s terraces. 32.05 stands for the 32nd of May symbolizing eternal spring, that’s why this terrace is open all year long. Live Dj sets, tanning beds, relaxed atmosphere and affordable food. Grab a cocktail and head to the lawn, or get a table outside and try the cod with creamed cauliflower and truffle oil (≈$10) or pumpkin soup with coconut milk (≈$6).

Didi

Great Georgian cuisine concealed behind a green hedge. A 20% lunch discount 12–5 PM. Salmon avocado salad (≈$10), juicy kebabs (≈$11–15) and much more.

Turandot

Not every terrace can boast an alliance with Veuve Clicquot. At Turandot summers are now flying the flag of the legendary champagne. Located on the rooftop of a historical building and decorated with rose bushes, this sweet spot offers incredibly inventive seasonal dishes and gourmet Panasian cuisine. Try the green salad with crunchy duck (≈$15), seabass tartar (≈$13) or Mongolian-style venison (≈$36).
