This is another blazing success brought to you by Russia’s darling, Vladimir Mukhin — the 33 year old Russian Chef, one of the leading advocates of the New Russian Cuisine, and winner of several international culinary competitions.

Gorynych is a grill, bakery and bar that is located on the third floor of the stylish new Central Market on Tsvetnoy Bulvar. Gorynych is the Russian mythological fire-breathing monster, and the name was bestowed on this fine establishment because almost everything here is fried in every imaginable way — ovens, jospers and smokers, you name it….minus the guests of course!  But seeing once is better than believing. It is currently considered to be one of the best restaurants in Moscow, so should definitely be on your list of places to wine and dine in Moscow.

Meat and fish are prepared in an enormous 3-ton smoker or grill, in an open kitchen that occupies at least 1/3 of all the entire space, and lets you watch the entire process!

Interior wise, it’s probably what you’d expect to see in Gorynych’s lair, assuming he had good taste — velvet sofas, rock-solid wooden pillars, wall-paintings illustrating famous bedtime stories (or in his case, places that he’d visited), no-filter photographs of forests, basically, neo à la russe style set in dark relaxing tones.

The big panorama windows with a view of the Trubnaya Square are a great bonus. In the Summer, there is an open terrace, where you can enjoy the view of the Tsvetnoy Bulvar.

The restaurant serves Russian-inspired cuisine. For starters, take tartare or brussels sprouts with pecan nuts; as a main dish select one from the grill-prepared dishes (juicy burgers, 4 types of steaks, meatballs, ribs, seafood); then add rhubarb pie with yoghurt ice cream for dessert – the servings will be big enough to satisfy even a three-headed monster!
