Vladivostok 3000 seafood restaurant

If you are done with the Kremlin, strolling through the Red Square and thinking of where to grab a hearty meal, well, then you’re in luck!

The Vladivostok 3000 seafood restaurant is just a stone’s throw from the Red Square and should definitely be the next point of call for those looking to spend an evening out and probably even party into the night. Located in a beautifully decorated 1925 skyscraper the restaurant serves delicious seafood dishes and at 11 pm, turns into the Mumiy Troll bar, with live music and a selection of alcoholic beverages to enjoy it.

Initially, it was just the Mumiy Troll bar, with live concerts, drinks and dancing all night long. But everything changed when the Vladivostok 3000, with an interior that resembles a cargo container (the doors with portholes, anchors, and crabs on the walls, and a library with a selection of vintage and modern books of the Asia-Pacific Region) docked here.

This establishment is the love child of the famous Russian rock group Mumiy Troll and the VVO Project Company, who decided to unite in their love for Vladivostok.  The restaurant was named after the book “Vladivostok 3000”, written by the leader of the Mumiy Troll band about a dream of an ideal city-port – free, environmentally friendly, independent, where production of seafood has turned into a culture. The books ideas, cuisine wise, are brought to life by the restaurant’s Chef Givi Hatisov.

The menu is seafood based, and all the seafood is delivered directly from Vladivostok. Most of the dishes are pretty traditional, as far as seafood goes, but you will find a splash of originality brought to you by the Chef himself, for example, a warm Tom Yam salad with seafood and crab based on the famous soup, with a concentrated and full taste (≈$16).  Another example is the remake of the traditional Russian salad “Mimosa” (≈$8) which here is made up of cod liver, smoked halibut and poached eggs, instead of canned fish which the Russians are used to. Crab is heavily featured in almost all the dishes, with a seperate menu dedicated to crab based dishes as well.

Here you can try the buttered pincers (≈$10), the crab baked in cream with spinach (≈$16), the crab-cake (≈$12), the black pelmeni with crab (≈$10), – and that’s not all.  Scallops, squid, shrimps, seashells, and fish also have their sections on the menu.

Of course, if you’re feeling carnivorous, they’ve got you covered as well.  Many recommend the beef cheeks (≈$12) or the veal with fern (≈$9).

Lest we forget, the magnificent building where this ‘two in one’ establishment is located was actually once home to the Moscow Telegraph Office, so if you are yet to have your fill of excursions, start the evening with a tour and take it from there!
