The best beaches in Saint-Petersburg

Saint-Petersburg is not only about classical architecture, theaters and museums. There are also many beaches where you can go to make the most of those rare sunny days and good weather in this city.

The Peter and Paul Fortress beach

This is the most popular beach located very close to the center of the city – if you stay in Saint-Petersburg, you are bound to come across it. Swimming is forbidden, but you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Winter Palace and the Neva River while getting a tan. Tickets: Free entrance

Nevsky Prospect

The Park of the 300th anniversary of the St. Petersburg beach

This beach is hidden away from the popular tourist routes, but it’s definitely worth discovering. Here you get the opportunity to see the real non-touristy Saint Petersburg.

The best thing about this beach is the large area, it hardly ever gets crowded so you can always find a spot for some peace and quiet. Although swimming is strongly discouraged, it rarely stops the locals looking to escape from the ruthless sun.

The New Holland beach

It is an island that was reconstructed in 2016. The New Holland is kind of a creative space where you can go to relax in the park. There is also a pavilion for lectures and other cultural events, a playground for kids and adults (for example, you can play chess on a giant board). Also, in the middle of the New Holland there is an artificial lake decorated with huge plastic flamingos and a pretty beach in the middle. Here you can relax in chaise longues and, in case you’re hungry, you can visit one of many restaurants nearby.
