The best flea markets of Saint Petersburg

Fascinating valuable artefacts await their passionate collectors on the displays of Saint Petersburg’s flea markets. This is where collectors and film studio decorators stock up. Here you’ll find a creative souvenir from Russia, real Soviet heritage and vintage accessories. You won’t leave empty handed!

The Udelny flea market

This famous and unique place brings the «modern» trade stalls and a flea market together. When you get to the spot, you will see the pavillions first. There you can stock up on second-hand clothes, appliances, and snacks brought right from our neighbouring country, Finland. Continue going along the Fermskoye Shosse: the real deal starts here! Old toys, watches, gramophone records, coins and other items that has survived since the Soviet times are being sold like hotcakes. Some stalls are even often visited by wardrobe masters of local theaters and film studios. The market also features a lot of things left from the World War II, so history fans are welcome as well! The sellers sometimes charge a random price, so you might be lucky and buy dirt-cheap, and vice versa, since like all markets, you have to bargain to get a good deal!

The Apraksin Yard market

More than just a market. It had been closed 5 times, but every time like a phoenix, it rose from the ashes  and remains the biggest and the oldest in the city center. The Petersburgers call it «1990s nostalgia», because this was the period it was frequented most by the locals in search of the best deals at the lowest possible prices, which even lead some to dub it «local Shanghai». Want Adidas branded clothes or a fur coat, «shuba», for a mere song? Super cheap souvenirs or delicious Chinese food? You are in the right place. But watch out for pickpockets.

Being mostly a grocery market, it also has a flea market section. Buy clothes, purses and bags for a knock-down price: you’ll get a whole new fashion look for ≈$1! There are even branded ones.
