“Solyaris” in the Priyut Komedianta theatre

This play is based on the sci-fi novel by Stanislav Lema. And the story takes place in space, on the space station “The Earth”. The play addresses questions like the power of the human being and where it comes from. The six actors are six parts of a man and each part tries to find the answers to the questions through dance.

“La Dance – Impression” in the Zazerkalye theatre

This show links music, dancing, singing and the physical theatre together. Actors perform works of the impressionists Ravel and Debussy, and the works of a french composer F. Poulenc.  Using only non-verbal means of expressiveness actors bear a real love-story.

An interesting fact: spectators can sit on the stage!

One-man performance titled “Bandaged Ophelia”

The director, choreographer and actress of the show Liliya Burdinskaya focuses on one of Shakespeare’s most complex characters – Ophelia. During the show, Liliya analyses the the simple story of a complex lady, as if removing the bandages, layer by layer, from a wound.

The show is performed in the “Mikhail Shemyakin Center”

“Krepostnauya Lubov” in the Komedianty theatre

The name of the show means “Serf Love” and it is based on the classical Russian story “Mumu” written by the outstanding Russian writer I. Turgenev.  The show is about freedom, or the absence of it and is performed without words, through Russian folk songs, dances and even projections of Russian artists’ paintings on the stage. What happens when a person does not have the freedom to love, or make certain choices and is faced with an eternity of a bleak and meaningless existence? Featured in the play are the serfs Tatiana and Gerasim whose feelings for each other are forbidden. To make matters worse, Gerasim can’t speak and his only friend  is his pet dog Mumu, whose presence Gerasim’s master does not approve of.

Uchebnyi Teatr na Mohovoi. “Yesterday Club”

If you are not big on the theatre of body movement, then go and see “Yesterday Club”, the show where drama actors sing and dance and create an atmosphere of a real jazz club of the 60s. Actually, they are the future drama actors, because this theatre is a University theatre of the Saint Petersburg State Academy of Performing Art. And this fact makes this theatre more attractive, because this Academy teaches the future celebrities.  This is a nostalgic show, full of the greatest hits of the 20th century.
