The Chinese Friendship Garden

A heavenly Chinese garden in the very city center; it was a present to Petersburgers for the city’s 300th anniversary. The walls are decorated with wise dragons and mighty lions, the small bridge is perfect for watching the running water, and in spring, cherry trees bloom, bringing a piece of Asia right to the very heart of the Russian Northern capital.

The Vitebsky Train Station

The oldest train station in Russia and probably the most beautiful one. Constructed in art nouveau style, its delicate arches create a genuine steampunk atmosphere. No wonder that it’s often used in films and TV shows as a 19th century stage set. The station isn’t overly busy , so the crowds won’t interfere with your photo shoot.

The Mosaic Yard

One of the most creative yards, this one bears a close resemblance to the works of Gaudi. The whole yard is covered with vibrant mosaic murals and graffiti, made by the artist Vladimir Lubenko and the kids from the Minor Arts Academy, for the sheer love of it, completely with their own finances.

The Shuvalovsky Park

To get a breath of fresh air and picturesque views at the same time, head off to the Shuvalovsky Park, in the modern residential zone of the city. Being an estate of a wealthy earl before, now  nature takes its course there. There’s a gothic church with a crypt that can become an intriguing element to your photo composition.

The giant rose

Located in the yard of the City Sculpture Museum, this huge red rose is a part of Sergey Dodt’s art project. The main idea was to turn the grey and dull city space into a blooming meadow, and we believe, the author has managed to do that!

Countess Kleinmichel’s villa

Constructed in neo gothic style, with a small corner tower, it was a residence of rich and eccentric countess. Her masquerade parties were the talk of the whole high society of the capital. Now the building is owned by the Department of Presidential Affairs and isn’t open to visitors. However, that shouldn’t stop one from taking a picture from the outside.

Almost an open-air sculpture museum, this yard is open to visitors – just go through the reception desk.
