Публикация от Кто Летит ✈ Доставка Посылок (@insta_pochta) This place is dear to the heart of every Saint-Petersburg resident. Bolshaya Konyushennay is the name of the street in the city center, and pyshechnaya is a place where you can try pyshki – little donuts, which are traditional Saint-Petersburg street food. The difference between donuts and pyshki lays in the pastry. Moreover, pyshki don’t usually have icing or a filling; instead, they are sprinkled with powdered sugar.

It’s not the only pyshechnaya in Saint-Petersburg, of course. However, this place is absolutely iconic to Saint-Petersburg. It was founded in 1958 and has remained open ever since. It was included in the city’s “Red Book”, which means that the owners of the pyshechnaya cannot change its concept or design. This measure was introduced to preserve unique places in the city that literally form its character and style.

Even today, you can visit this place to enjoy the nostalgic and a little bit naïve atmosphere of a typical Soviet café. You will easily find this place, thanks to an old lady who is always sitting in front of the café and calling to everyones to try tasty fresh pyshki. Although one could say that this kind of promotion is not really necessary, since the line to buy this masterpieces of confectionary art is enormous.

This place is pretty small, only two cozy rooms with striped white and green wallpaper and simple furniture like those that you can see in old movies. The interior is authentic, so is the food. Here you can order pyshki baked according to the original Soviet technology. Nothing in the recipe has been changed, not even a little bit. For many Russians it’s the way to get back to their childhood. In addition to pyshki, you can also try the Crimean lemonade, Soviet caramel and typical coffee with milk.

Humans aside, cats are among the staff of pyshechnaya. They are perfect companions for lonely clients and create a special atmosphere of positivity and trust. If you like fat and fluffy kittens, it’s a good reason to visit this place as well.
